1. User Base

eharmony and EliteSingles are very busy sites with lots of serious singles looking to find love. EliteSingles have 13 million members worldwide with over 1.6 million members in Australia. 2. Demographics

EliteSingles and eharmony both have a wide variety of singles signed up with them. Most of the EliteSingles database are over 30 and are looking for a serious relationship. 87% are university educated. They aim for a higher calibre single – hence the brand name. eharmony has a roughly even male/female ratio with a similar age range. However, there are plenty of older members looking for love the second time around. It’s known as the site that’s responsible for more marriages than any other. eharmony edges into the lead for this round as they have been established longer.

Winner: eharmony

3. Features

eharmony and EliteSingles have a wide selection of online dating features to help you find your match. They both operate differently to most other sites as you must first complete a long personality questionnaire. They then send you targeted matches each day rather than allowing you to simply search. This ensures that each of the singles are more likely to be highly compatible with you. EliteSingles makes a point that they remove inactive profiles, ensuring timewasters won’t cross your path. eharmony offers a Secure Call function which allows you to talk to someone on the phone without giving away your personal mobile number. Similar services, but eharmony’s questionnaire goes a lot deeper.

Winner: eharmony

4. Mobile Compatibility

eharmony and EliteSingles both have apps available to download for iOS and Android devices. They have most of the functionality of the desktop versions, but in addition, you can access your messages wherever you might be. It’s a matter of a second to add photos on both apps and you can message your matches on-the-go as long as you’ve upgraded to a paid membership. EliteSingles has a smoother interface which makes it more fun to use.

Winner: EliteSingles

5. Pricing

While it’s free to register an account on both the eharmony and EliteSingles sites, you have to upgrade if you want to unlock all the features. eharmony charges $64.95 for one month, $152.85 for three months or $269.60 if you’d prefer to go for a six month package. EliteSingles charges $149.95 for one month, $269.85 for three months or $419.70 of you’d like a six month membership. eharmony wins this round as it works out cheaper for a similar offering.

Winner: eharmony

6. Chat

EliteSingles and eharmony make it simple to chat and message other users. Both sites try to encourage you to test out some icebreaker questions before you start messaging directly. With eharmony, there are several rounds of this which supposedly deepens your connection. You can wink or smile on either site if you’d like to test the waters before getting in touch, but EliteSingles’ “getting to know you” process is a little easier and less time consuming.

Winner: EliteSingles

7. Bottom Line

Both EliteSingles and eharmony are fantastic offerings which really help busy singles on their way to finding a relationship. Of the two, eharmony wins because it’s more affordable and more established, which ultimately means it is highly trusted.
